Born John Joseph Nicholson in Neptune,
New Jersey on April 22, 1937.
Born into a moderately middle class family. His father an
alcoholic, and very complicated family followings. It's like
a weird family tree.
He started out in Hollywood as a message boy for MGM. That
is when he got his big break starring in fellow director Roger
Corman's quickie called CRY BABY KILLER. Then he starred in
second string "B" movies for almost a decade...that
is when he got his really BIG break., starring opposite Peter
Fonda and Dennis Hopper in a project called EASY RIDER. (to
bad he gets killed.) After that, the roles raked in: starring
in classics like FIVE EASY PIECES, THE LAST DETAIL, and the
ultimate noir film CHINATOWN. Finally after three best actor
nominations and a best supporting nod, came his first Best
Ator Oscar, starring in one of the best films of all time,
ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO' S NEST. After that role he starred
in other films earning more Oscar nods, including REDS, IRONWEED,
and PRIZZI'S HONOR. But flasback to 1983...Jack got his first
supporting Oscar starring opposite Shirley McLaine in a heartwarming
story called TERMS OF ENDEARMENT. Ok to 1989 he starred as
the Joker in Batman. Then came the small roles for fellow
directors. He got into big movie deals starting with A FEW
GOOD MEN, where he got a nod for best supporting actor. 1997:
A romantic comedy called AS GOOD AS IT GETS, "gets" Jack his third Oscar and second BEST ACTOR Oscar. It seems
that Jack is taking some time off right now... Hopefully he
will come back soon
